VOKKERO on the fast track in ice hockey
The Vokkero® wireless communication system has just been adopted by the referees and line judges of the KHL - Kontinental Hockey League - Eastern Europe's international ice hockey league (Russia, Byelorussia, Lithuania and Kazakhstan).
A decision taken after careful consideration
Its introduction into the KHL implies unprecedented changes in the way refereeing is conducted.
Real-time dialogue, a direct link with the video referee, simultaneous explanation of decisions to the public ... for the KHL's refereeing teams, the possibilities offered by the Vokkero® system are introducing radical changes in how time and the game are managed. Despite these changes, the use of the system has been ratified by KHL's highest authorities. A panel of referees has now been selected to take the Vokkero® system in hand and accustom themselves to using it.
An innovative communication system
Tests carried out in ice rinks, all of a very convincing nature, were also used by KHL to validate the fact that Vokkero® is an innovative system affecting the way in which refereeing is carried out.
Vokkero® enables KHL's referees and line judges to remain in permanent contact throughout the match and to consult each other when making penalty decisions. Vokkero's noise filter also ensures excellent sound quality in the noisiest environments. User comfort is ensured thanks to the moulded microphone headsets.
But above all it is Vokkero®'s ‘speaker mode’ function, specially developed by ADEUNIS RF for the KHL, that gives the system its greatest added value. This function gives the KHL's refereeing team the option of making direct announcements to the public and explaining the decisions made in the game. Thanks to this system, the KHL has raised itself to the same international ranking as its American counterpart, the NHL, which has already been using a similar function, but without a communication system, for several years.
